These days, it has more become popular to do everything yourself (DIY) including home improvement projects. However, there are certain projects that can be dangerous if you’re not experienced. One of those projects is: ROOFING.
Roofers have experience on roofs. They are used to being on top of one-two-even three story homes (sometimes buildings). Roofers have spent so much time on roofs that they KNOW how to walk on a roof without trouble. This, comes with years of experience and training most homeowners do not have.
Though you may not have a fear of heights or you may be an excellent rock climber, we still only recommend doing small repairs (like adding a few missing shingles) to your roof yourself. Here’s why:
No matter what kind of job you are doing, walking on a roof isn’t a good idea unless you do it on a regular basis. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you risk making the problem even bigger.
However, there are pros and cons to both sides. Of course the benefit of roofing yourself is cost, but there is always risk of injury or worsening the issue. Hiring a contractor can be a bit pricey pending the amount of work needed, but you will likely end up with a better, long-lasting result.
Even if you are leaning towards doing the work yourself, Bone Dry Roofing offers FREE estimates so you can see how much your project would cost. Visit our website or call 877-BONEDRY to schedule an appointment.
