Stone Chimney Rebuild in Batavia

This chimney had severe water damage all the way down to the wood frame underneath. The flashing around the chimney was completely rusted out and caused a small section of the roof to become damaged. Water had been penetrating through the crack in the crown and cracked mortar joints between the stones. This chimney over time, would eventually collapse if not properly restored.

After our expert inspected the area and delivered an estimate, our masonry crew tore down the existing chimney down to the wood frame. They replaced the damaged wood, with new pressure treated lumber that will last quite a long time. They applied the ice and water shield to the box frame, and wrapped steel mesh around the frame. A scratch coat was applied to cover the mesh so that the stone would stick to the new chimney. After the scratch coat was ready, the stones were carefully applied and then tuck pointed by hand. Now this chimney is safe and ready to be used!
