Shingle Recycling

Blog

Recycling is hard to put into perspective.

The United States produces, on average, 11 million tons of shingle waste (annually) just from roof tear-offs. Asphalt shingles, in particular, make up 80% of the total waste that comes from the roofing industry.

So let’s say your roof has reached the end of it’s lifespan and you get your roof repaired or replaced – the old shingles that are torn off during construction eventually go to a landfill where they will take about three hundred years to decompose. OR they can be used in various road paving efforts in your community, like filling potholes – which then ends up saving you money on the taxpayer side.

While that may not seem like that big of a deal when it comes to a single roof – when you add the amount of roof replacements happening day after day, year after year, and one landfill trip after the next – it starts to add up. In a world where sustainability is trendier than ever, what better way to help the environment than to declutter the landfills?

As a homeowner you can choose a contractor that recycles it’s shingles and improves the overall sustainability of our planet.

Here at Bone Dry Roofing we do our best to provide the best customer service – and we view our efforts in shingle recycling to be another way for us to give back to our customers and to our communities.

We even team up with Angie’s List to make homeowners more aware of the benefits that shingle recycling could give for years to come. We have been proud to make shingle recycling a cornerstone of our company, and look forward to continuing our efforts everyday to simply do what is best for our planet and our customers. Remember, in the long run, every shingle counts!
