Challenge
The immediate thought when you see staining or water in your roof is often ‘Holy guacamole – I can’t afford a new roof!’. There are many things that can cause leaks in an otherwise performing roof, some of which can be very economical. One of the most common things we encounter is failed vent pipe collars. These PVC pipe boots can make a big problem for homes, but luckily, they are not a difficult repair. The trick is finding a contractor to correctly diagnose the issue.
Solution
Thankfully, the BDR Lexington team is well versed in leak diagnosis & we are a simple phone call away. Our guys will inspect the areas of concern & nail down what needs to occur in an estimate to get your home back to normal.

Since water can pool under a faulty vent pipe collar, it is crucial to inspect the decking for potential damage. Merely installing shingles over rotten decking is never recommended, as the wood can continue to deteriorate & offer water another source of entry.
-
Underlayment is installed in the work area, before cutting the hole for the box vent.

Box vent is cut in & pipe boot/rain collar installed at the vent pipe. New shingles are seamed in to match. Voila!
