This relatively small area on this roof had suffered a multitude of of damages over the years mostly basing around severe water damage. The decking underneath these shingles beneath a gutter transition had no ice and water shield making it increasingly succeptable to moisture damage and thus wood rot over the years.
Our crew was able to fully inspect the area and diagnose the issue properly on all levels to ensure the proper protection was in place to prevent this from happening again. First our crews installed ice and water shield which was the key component in ensuring that the newly installed decking would remain unharmed from moisture. The next preventative measure that was put in was new step flashing that was pieced together at the top of the gutter return to prevent water from flowing backward when there is an excess of rain flow. The step flashing is put directly underneath the shingles at the point where the gutter meets the roof.
